Re: Argon tank empty??

1 scf of Argon weighs .1034 lb. A 300 cf bottle of Argon full weighs a hair over 31lb more when it’s full compared to dead empty.

Re: Anyone near Boulder Co. ?

Yes you will likely be looking for temp work. But don’t let the posted requirements keep you from letting an employer know you are interested and willing to learn. In this economy you might well land a job just because your interested. Lots of places that are posting jobs are posting for the top end...

Re: Anyone near Boulder Co. ?

I would search on a web site like
https://www.indeed.com/m/?gclid=EAIaIQo ... gJP8PD_BwE

They will list jobs actively searching and also you can add to have recruiters contact you through your profile.

Sub 20# is going to be your deal breaker. That will keep you in the 150 to 180 amp range.

Re: 6G sch80 rod difficulty

I have a 210mp it does not like 6010. If you have lots of experience you can keep a 3/32 lit for a while but even then it will drop out. You can crank the amps way up but even then it will drop the arc with 6010.

Re: Gas lens sound difference

Check your pressure setting on your flow regulator. If it’s putting out over 50 psi then there is a difference in sound when switching torch styles. I have a different regulator and flow meter I use with my gas lens stuff. I leave it on a dedicated torch and just swap my thumb control.

The two you posted are coalescing filters with floats. There good for inline with air flow. But the one I posted is for off the bottom of a vessel.

these are the ones we use at work. Put a strainer in front. Catches flakes and crap. Then you can blow down when you want. Has a test button to check operation.

Re: 3M 1.5HP Air Grinder - The Rolls Royce of air grinders

Line sizing becomes critical with compressed air, especially when you start to talk about moisture. If the velocity is to high you might be able to maintain flow and pressure but the water can’t drop out.

Re: My oxi torch

It is possible to id a torch by shape and things like casting shapes or sometimes numbers of ribs or groves can be the key. But you will likely need to have good pictures that you can send to a rebuild company or the manufacturer for an answer.

Re: How inflated are local steel prices compared to online?

I have bought several thousand feet of steel and copper pipe over the last year. Even though the company I work for buys loads more than just the little portion I buy for my projects. I can tell you the suppliers will only guarantee a price for about 4-7 days. Because things are changing so fast. Co...

If that isn’t something you have available I have contact info for a distributor on the east coast that specializes in stuff like that. You ca...

Re: Miller Maxstar 161 STH board issues?

I’ve used and burnt up 3 max star 150’s the predecessor to the 161. But to be fair they all got used hard, for work, often times on long extension cords. The company I work for got there money out of each one. I had a brand new 210 that went about 5 hrs of arc time before it needed a board. Sent it ...

You have to throw in the fact that the transformer isn’t just a conductor, it is a coil with an iron core. So stored energy in the form of inductance.
