Re: Hood upgrades for music

I'm concerned about your hearing, if they are making you wear ear protection, then the noise must be very loud. If you're going to hear your music above the ambient noise, then your music will harm your hearing. I don't want to see you at mid age going deaf! This reminds me of trying to hear my musi...

Keeping a log

Do you guys write down your settings for TIG welding, for different metals, thicknesses, kind of joints, and etc.?
I have found, at 62, a hobbyist, and not welding 8 hours a day I forget what I did in the past. Sometimer's disease?

Re: Show Us Your Welding Table

Tungstendipper, I did not notice your lathe and grinder in the background behind your Everlast welder? Looks like Metal Central. A small industrial corner of your garage. Nice organization of metal specific tools. Bradk Thanks! It's no big deal, many have much more. I'm truly grateful just to have ...

Re: Show Us Your Welding Table

Tungstendipper, Very well thought out table. I like the little storage shelf on the right underside for rat holing scrap, sweet! Looks very comfortable as well. Brad K Thanks! It holds up to 4ft. scraps 90 degrees from the short pieces shown up front. The scrap idea evolved from a gluing table I bu...

Show Us Your Welding Table

Here's mine: Just finished a home built larger arm for a LED work light from Lowes, can be positioned in any hole on the table. The Cert-Flat table has an extra 1/4" top for a total of 9/16" thickness. In the center of the table is a Lincoln Miniflex fume extractor, and notice the 5/16&quo...

Where's your dog? Saw the dog bed, but no dog.
BTW... Great looking table. I like the flex conduit on your electrical box. That will keep the hot slag out!
I will be interested in how often you will have to adjust your table for flatness?

Re: best budget AC/DC tig machine

typ 122, Don't forget the CK Worldwide MT-200 ac/dc Tig, it is pricier at $2155 but is supposed to be an excellent machine. Brad Wow that's quite a bit more then the Lincoln, it better shine for that cost. Have never seen any reviews for that unit, but then I haven't went looking. Right now you can...

Re: Gas tank update

That why I love to weld aluminum! It makes you fine tune all the little stuff (snags). Consistent results? Haven't tig welded long enough. I am getting better. I'm still wondering what's the big deal about the "stack of dimes" look (tho it's fun to try). A solid weld is more important. Thi...

Re: Filler Wire When is it Done?

Thanks for the reply. I stop at 6", hard to feed constantly. So I store my rods in an 1 1/4" PVC 3 ft. tube like Jody; so when you have a piece that's around 24" where do you store it? If you put it back in your 3 ft tubes you lose it and have hard time fishing it out. How do you folk...

Greetings from Colorado

I'm 62 years old, retired, and learning TIG welding. In the past, I began sticking welding at 14. Looking for something to stomp-out the summertime boredom, I welded my bike and my sister's bike together to make a bicycle build for two! Summertime always meant we did everything in bare feet, includi...

Re: Troubleshooting erratic shielding with CK9

Have you checked for any air leakage around your O ring on the glass lens? If that #12 cup gets bumped it can cause a leak around the o ring.
