Just remember to use muriatic acid outside, and where fumes can't drift into the shop.

Otherwise all machinery and bare steel acquires a brown coating.

Use a suitable epoxy filler, such as one of these from Devcon.

Then you wont have the problem of chips/swarf in the recess damaging the wipers.

Is the problem common to both machines ? Try another bottle of gas from a different source ? Is the porosity problem common to every casting from the new process or intermittent ? Can you get a mass spectrometry analysis of the chips you grind off the casting to check the cast material is to the cor...

On the balance I have tried going up that high and it got worse. I forgot to add earlier that the tungsten was soot black after any tack or weld above a balance or 10 or 12.
