Here are screenshots from Esab University's MIG CD rom. This disc was free from Esab (so not a copyright infringement or TOS violation). Haven't yet figured out how to insert multiple images in one post, so looks like one image in many posts.

Re: A/C Tig Machine

I hope to have 220 soon so dual voltage wouldn't be necessary. Do you have an electric dryer at the house? Its 220v 30 amps, and will power a welder nicely. When I need 220 I have to run an extension cord out a window and to my garage. I made an extension cord with a nema 6-50 receptacle and a drye...

Re: A/C Tig Machine

I've been on the Everlast forum for a while, and many members there speak very highly of the 200 DX. I have the Everlast 210 EXT in dual voltage, and I've been very pleased with it.

Re: A/C Tig Machine

The Everlast 200DX is AC/DC TIG with all the bells and whistles. It comes in a dual voltage version too, so portability goes way up.

Re: Help with collet dimensions

For the wider portion of the collet as indicated in your picture, my 10N collet is 0.248 inches / 6.35mm. A 13N collet is 0.202 in / 5.14 mm

Hopefully my measuring device is accurate enough.

Re: Help with collet dimensions

Hello, Anders, Parts for type 9 and type 20 torches will usually have part numbers that start with 13N. Type 17, 18, and 26 torch parts have part numbers that start with 10N. Are your collets imprinted or engraved with part numbers? I wonder if your packaging was mislabeled. My home life gets busy i...

Re: Rusted out floorboards

Your post mentions you'll have access to a shear and brake capable of 16 gauge steel. I have to look these things up, and when I did I found that 16 gauge is 0.0598 inches thick. I also looked at the Miller welding calculator for flux core wire, here: http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/calculators...

Re: Setting up for back purge

Good morning, ONDGAS- First, a caveat: I have not used a Y connector to provide both backpurge and shielding gas, so this is all theory for me, but I have worked with regulators. I'm pretty sure there's a WeldingTipsAndTricks.com video that shows the Y connection: I'll look for it (don't have the ti...

This has been an interesting post! Just for curiosity, how long does this kind of repair take, not counting the wait for parts to arrive?

Re: Tank refilling/exchange question..

A "K" size cylinder is in the 250 cubic foot range. I'm pretty sure any LWS could arrange for you to get your owner cylinders back, although you may have to prove you are the owner. Assuming that's not in question it would be a matter of making two trips: one to drop off, and another to pi...

Re: SOLID OR FLUX?

Good morning, HarleyChief- The difference will likely come down to your preference. Solid wire with C-25 shielding gas will produce the best *looking* weld, but requires you to go and get a bottle of gas (renting / buying a bottle, what size bottle, best price decision, is the LWS open when I need i...

Re: Hobart handler 135 pc board

This post is a couple days old, just seeing it for the first time. Tough break for the machine to fail on you since you'd just picked it up.

Did you troubleshoot with Hobart? Sometimes a wire feed problem is due to a worn liner. Did they touch on that?

Re: mig welding with co2

I have only read about using co2 for shielding gas, but what I've read is that it can be used on thicker carbon steel. It provides good penetration but also a lot of heat. So you can use it, but probably not for auto body panels, for instance. WT&T.com has some MIG with co2 videos: http://www.we...

Re: MIG vs. TIG or MIG & TIG

Hey, RPat- I've seen some "MIG like TIG" aluminum welds on other welding sites so it may just be a technique hurdle to get past. (I have not MIG welded aluminum myself so I can't comment.) Your Miller is definitely good equipment. I'm new to this site and just noticed the TIG section has t...
