Re: Argon gas quality?
It’s the washer causing the issue. Like stated before it looks like it has a zink coating. It is pretty common for most washers to have a coating to help prevent corrosion which usually makes them difficult to weld. Try and grind all the edges and the faces of the washer and try again, I bet you’ll ...

Re: Best hole saw opinions
Decided to pick up a mn EZARC carbide hope saw to see how it works. If it doesn’t I’m probably going to pick up a champion, that’s the brand I had a few jobs ago and I drilled through 1/4” stainless like it was nothing. Thanks again for the input.

Re: Best hole saw opinions
These are the ones I currently have and the black one up front so the carbide one I use. I do not know what brand the carbide one is. I purchased it from a tool shop that gets them from a local company who makes them. Also I must add that I do not use a drill press for drilling the holes because the...

Best hole saw opinions
So I’ve been using cheap hole saws from Home Depot and Lowe’s for a long time and finally stepped up to a nice carbide hole saw about a year ago, well a few weeks back I ran it into my vice accidentally while drilling through some sheet metal and dulled the hell out of it. Before I order up another ...

Re: Noob has $1500 for Tig. Suggestions?
I just replaced my Miller with an everlast machine and for the price point I am very pleased with my decision. 5 year warranty and they seem to have good customer service. $1500 will go a long way with everlast.

Re: how to cut 16 gauge sheet metal
I use a Dewalt DW892 shear as well as a dewalt 893. Both are pricy but a worth while investment if you are planning on doing a lot of cutting. I’ve had the DW893 for two years now and it has been great only had to rotate the blades once. It has 4 cutting edges on the blades. The DW892 only has one c...

Re: Cordless grinder
Ok so after a weeks worth of use I have to say I’m pretty happy with it. I put it through it’s paces and with the 5.0 batteries it lasted a good amount of time. It feels just as strong as my corded grinders, of course it’s a little slower RPM but still easily gets the job done. Like I said before th...

Re: Cordless grinder
You know what they say about opinions. For the cost of one of those pieces of shiite I can put receptacles avery six feet from one end of the shop to the other, on both walls, and not have to deal with the battery scam. In the field on a scaffold or where there is no electric is one thing. In a sho...

Re: Welding cart!
The cart is 13 1/2” wide not including the hangers. With the wheels on it is 38 1/4” tall, each shelf is 16” apart. I built the shelves out of 3/4” square tubing and welded the 1/8” plate inside of the Square tubing making kindof a tray so that if for some reason anything shifts it won’t fall off. T...

Re: Cordless grinder
Thanks for the input, probably pick one up later this week. I’ve used the dewalt ones at previous employers and liked them but never really thought it would benefit me much in my shop since I have plenty of outlets, but those few times when I just need to do something quick it would be nice just to ...

Cordless grinder
What’s up everyone, so I have a question for those of you who have or have used cordless grinders. All mine in the shop are corded dewalts and every now and then I have to move them around the shop to cut something small or grind something and I’m thinking of buying one cordless. I already have a ni...

Re: Motorcycle subframe crack repair
I’ve welded a lot of subframes for a lot of stunt riders, including my own subframe a few times. That’s a pretty minor crack really. I’ve had to repair complete breaks before. I believe the rod I’ve used is 4043. Once they crack you are right there are no guarantees. I typically just clean the area ...

Well done! Bonus points for not taking the easy way out and making it square I would only add some kind of roll-cage, just in case you push it sideways over some hose or cable... My vote is to grind/sand it with a course disk (lots of swirl marks) and then clear coat it....would look really fine it think.
Anyway, Great job again.
Thank you! I am still debating on how to finish it but when I do I’ll post it here.

Re: Line Power
I’m not sure how things are wired in other countries but could it also be your supply amps. In the US your machine would require 220v volts and that 220v would require a 50amp service breaker to supply it. Also you have to be sure the wire feeding your outlet is rated for a 50 amp service and depend...

Re: Tig torch opinions
If you want to use it at machine Max and for longer runs I would say you need a 18 torch. Same as your 17 but water cooled. The 9 you get will not hold long runs over 125 amps DC (it's not water cooled). The 20 is water cooled and will do roughly 200 amps if I remember correctly. 9 and 20 use the s...

Tig torch opinions
I’m sorry if this has been beat to death, I have searched but didn’t find what I was looking for. i am in the market for a new Tig torch setup and have always pretty much used 17 air cooled. Mainly with a flex head which for me is pretty much a must. My new machine is coming with a water cooled 9 an...

Re: Tungsten grinding question.
I used to grind tungsten on a grinder for years and I purchased a tungsten grinder about 6 months ago. Worth every penny. Spent a little over $200 on it so it’s a low end model but the time it saves and perfect tip every time makes it worth it. Just my 2 cents. Which grinder did you buy? It is a st...
