Re: Electrode exchange

10lbs of vodex or bohler supplied and shipped to US would be probably $130-$150 as an example.
might be better to try a pound of something first?

Re: crisp and soft settings.

There is a nice solid throw to those lincoln power switches, not common on an inverter.
you know youre turning on something capable when she clunks

Re: Advice Required for Rod Selection.

It doesnt seem there are too many choices for 6013 in the US, but they come with lots of different flavours. Everybody knows 7018 are basic,6010 cellulosic,6013 rutile etc Lots of 6013's are out there that are mixtures of rutile-basic, or rutile-cellulosic each one has properties of both rutile, as ...

Re: Root question

Are you pointing your rod upwards, not 90 degrees to the plate?

6011 were I think designed so they could be run on ac, but still perform way better on dc.

there must be some mistake in your specs, you say its your root in 3/8 plate but you are flush to the bevel in that pic

Re: Look what I found today.

Fronius are as good as it gets.
they have a model similar to the miller maxstar 150, called the TransPocket 1500.
150 amps,10lbs, but will run 6010 perfectly.

Very well protected from the elements, the boards are treated to keep out water.

70 amps is a bit low for a 1/8 rod.try 85 and see, maybe even more

Re: Transformer Vs. Inverter For Stick Welding???

6013 arent bad when brand new or completely dry.they get very slaggy if not, or if the amps are a little on the cold side.you can vary the arc length a little to compensate, unlike 7018. I have some 60 and 7010s too, ill give them a burn tomorrow with some lohi's. Good 6010's are expensive here, wor...

I did a quick butt today.esab 6011 root,6013 fill n cap. 6011 a bit of a shitty rod, but goes in a lot nicer with the lincoln http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu75/jpos_photo/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0813_zps1f2de389.jpg http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/uu75/jpos_photo/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0814_zps3...

Re: Transformer Vs. Inverter For Stick Welding???

I got lucky, damn lucky. brand new off ebay for $899. it cost a bit extra to get it posted here, but worth it.its performance on 60/70/8010 is great, you can long arc to about 2 inches without it going out!an everlast p.o.s. with a 6010 port cant do 2mm. I only got it a week ago and havent tried 701...

I'm gonna buy an Invertec 275, next time I see one for $1000.
One of the nicest 7018 arcs out there.

About 50lbs, and solidly built.
I just picked up one new.awesome machine.

Im pretty sure fronius magicwave models 2200 and bigger can run cellulose rods, even in vertical down.
the 1700 I dont think can burn them as good.

Some do - but most SS rod in the UK also runs in all directions unless in 1G position - absolutely dreadful rods ( except some Soudometal ones that I can't find anymore ! ) - I can't explain it - but we seem to have some of the nicest 6013 known to man & mostly the worst of everything else ! I ...

Re: suck~back

It seems you heard your instructor wrong.suck back doesnt happen on the root pass, it happens TO the root from too much amps or too little travel speed on the hot pass.
