I was wondering why I couldn't log in - thanks for posting.

And you're right, a heads up both times would have been nice.

Re: Know what brand/spec buzz box this is?

My guess an old Lincoln. The copper in it is worth more than the machine. Yep. I cringed when my sister hauled a similar one, but with a dial, that was burned up to THE DUMP! I told her she threw away a bunch of money. Made me sick. Stoked that this one works well though. This post is an attempt to...

Re: Mig Spray Transfer with C3 for Mild and Stainless Steel!

I think that's something i need to think about, i have not done that due to the inconsistency of metering the gases but at this point i might allow me to do whatever i want with any gas i want. Do you do that? I don't much, except for when I'm screwing around in my home shop :D But there are a few ...

Re: When should i reverse polarity? DC+ to DC-

Thanks Dave- maybe i shouldn't of used the words "cant" i should of wrote "shouldn't" anything can be done. I stand by my post with many years of stick welding dating back to 1990. You can run anything you want on DCEN doesn't mean its correct. I'm don't want to get into a pissi...

If all you use is variations on argon and co2, why not use a mixer and tailor the gas mixtures as you need them?

Re: When should i reverse polarity? DC+ to DC-

it all depends on what stick you are using and what you welding. I'm not sure why people are saying its for penetration? i mean that's part of it but 7018 and 6010 run in only DCEP. unless you are welding in position then it doesn't matter. you cant run uphill or out of position if you are running ...

Re: Tig foot switch

No reason you can't.

When you use a regular foot control, there is a switch and a rheostat of some type inside.

Sometimes I just set my machine to "panel" and use the foot control for on-off only.

Re: Lincoln dual shield flux core?

The dualshield or outershield flux core wire will all have the same problem outside.
If it's windy, loss of shielding gas on the weld.

But self shielded flux core wire work perfect outside. That's 71t-11 most often.

Both self shielded and gas shielded flux core have 0.035" wire available.

Re: about MIG- WFS in relation to amps / penetration

Mig is really easy to make a weld that doesn't penetrate. For definition of penetration we'll use depth of fusion. Stay with amps (wire feed speed) as your factor in penetration. Just because a person goes slower and puts more overall heat into a piece does not necessarily translate into penetration...

I agree that there is room to turn up but it depends on if your trying to run it single pass or multi pass. How big the joint is and weather it’s susceptible to heat input or warping. But how will I attain my goal of tig welding at mig speed if I don't turn it up and move? :D Tig is slower th...

Re: Tig Amperage

140 amps is way too low for me on a 3/8" plate t-joint fillet weld and 1/8" filler rod.

I'd be 180-220+ amps depending on position.

Re: I could use some help with aluminum

If in globular your wire speed is already too fast for the voltage.

You need more voltage or less wire speed to get to spray transfer.

Aluminum is not short circuit welding.

Here is a very short video to show what it sounds like in spray.
