Harbor Freight 20 ton Press Upgrade

Here’s one of many upgrades to the HF press. I took the slop out by welding new ball bearing ends on the press.

Looking good! What's it look like inside the motor housing? It looks rather large, or maybe your chuck is smaller than I think?

Re: New Tig Hood questions

I have the Lincoln Viking 3350 with 2.0 cheaters and wearing prescription bi- focal and I still have no depth perception. (the joys of getting old) Everything is very sharp though. It's a good helmet best I've had. I love the large lens. I wear readers so I need cheaters. :D Getting older myself. H...

I recently bought the Evapo-Rust but haven't used it yet, also got their Rust Block, supposed to prevent rust for 1 year
Thanks!
Here in DRY Colorado, as long as it's inside we do not have to worry about rust.

Refurbished Estate Sale Find

Just finished refurbishing an old, rusty, 43" slip roller. Bought it at an Estate Sale (50 bucks) where it had been stored outside for over a year. Also, built a stand for it so it can be wheeled around the shop. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181222/85be57eab1a6e4fdbbd4d43542e459df.jpg Sen...

Re: Differences in machines and welding ability

Jon, All the bells and whistles are nice to have and do come in handy, it's not to say that a ole tried and true transformer machine can't be used to put out nice looking welds. A couple of friends have Syncrowave 250 and 351's and I swear some of their welds look robot like, like you said it's mor...

Re: Feeding TIG Rod

It all about keeping your width, and crown of your weld consistent. Using your filler wire, speed, and pedal to do this. Adding too much filler wire can widen your bead, too much heat will also widen and flatten your bead. Timing of the filler wire can reduce the heat and narrow your bead. It's a ba...
