Local company I do business with is doing a boat load of remodeling in their shop and needed space. They asked if I'd take some steel racks off their hands. Steel and all! Wow, what a score. Got 2 nice racks and probably enough tool steel that I'll scarcely have to buy any for the rest of my life (unless I get back into the die-making business, which ain't happening).

Now to disclose fully, this company uses my machine shop on occasion (free of charge), and regularly uses my material stored here when they need something for maintenance that can't wait till an order can be shipped. And if they should need a piece of this stuff, they'll call and stop in to get something, though that's probably not likely to happen much.

In any case, I bet there's 300-400# of A2 from small to 1.5" thick. A mountain of allthread, including some acme. Loads of D2, W1, 4142, some A6 and M2 (probably not able to use the M2 at all). A whole bunch of brass and bearing bronze. Some brass tubing, etc.

The racks need a little cleaning up and to find a spot for em. A few items need identified, not many. Took a couple trips to get it all, and there's a little remaining they say. Might not be a whole lot of this that's weldable, but I'm sure I'll get over that!

Nice score! I just made a steel rack, compiling the footage and doing voice-over's for a vid. Lots of racks on here lately :D

Something I just don't do very often, is say "Nice Rack" to a guy, but in this case....
No sense dying with unused welding rod, so light 'em up!

Nice haul! I love free metal. Or really nice machine shop drops that are only pennies on the dollar at the scrap yard.

Used to have a local naval base/shipyard that brought their stuff to the scrap yard where I'm friendly with the owner. His guys would call me when they got some really nice stuff in. Then the base stopped scrapping their drops for whatever reason...not sure what they do with it now

Must be a thing. We are all getting organized for the new year or some nonsense like that...
