Tig and hard alloys.

Postby Bandicoot » Mon Aug 14, 2017 9:04 pm

Hello everyone.
I have to rebuild a jaw coupling with a hard alloy. I have in stock eutectrode 6006 but I think this job would be easier using TIG. My first question is if I clean a stick electrode, could I use it as a tig rod?.

I've never used TIG for repairing hardened pieces but I think it could reduce the risk of cracking. What do you think are the advantages or disadvantages of TIG process using hard alloys.

I'd like to read your comments about this topic.
Thanks in advance.
