Welding Tips and Tricks

I need to macro inspect a couple of stainless steel welds.
Looking for advice on :
-the best chemical to use
-down and dirty alternative chemical on the shelf

I use alumabrite aluminum cleaner. Muriatic acid from the pool supply or masonry section of your box store. Certain toilet bowl cleaners are acid-containing and will work in a pinch. These all require a soak time... They're not as fast as Naval jelly on carbon steel.
