Seems to be an issue with technique on some of my first stick welds. Any advice?

#1 make sure you are on the correct polarity
#2 make sure your amperage is correct for the rod (mostly) and (to a slightly lesser extent) the thickness of the base materials being welded.
#3 keep a correct arc length & simultaneously keep the correct rod angle.

+1 on arc length. If you are new, it is guaranteed that you are long arcing it.

 Definitely not the intention, seen a few websites in signatures. Plus its not even related to the help I needed..

To those who DID decide to help out with the advice, I appreciate it. I checked out a few yt videos as well about the arc length and it definitely was related to part of the issue. At first I thought it was the miller I was using.
