General welding questions that dont fit in TIG, MIG, Stick, or Certification etc.

If you have .25" hole or smaller in cast steel, would you mig or tig the hole closed? Or braze it. Need to be able to retap it. I apologies if this is a dumb question.

I would Braze it shut.

If its dirty/oily/rusty your better off brazing it with a little flux.

I appreciate the responses. That's what I was thinking, but I was in a rush. We're out of gas for the torch and I don't have any rods. So I use the mig to fill them. I drilled two small holes in my lower triple tree clamp to mount new steering stops. They didn't turn out like I wanted. One was threaded for a m6 bolt and the other was a little bigger than 1/16 diameter. solved
