Looking for a good source on gusset post/plate positioning. Such as if you move a gusset post farther from the corner ( making a larger triangle ), how much stronger will the structure be? Basically, strength vs gusset placement. Is there a phone app ?

I'm afraid this is an 'engineering' question, and if the "app" suggested is above your head, the ability to calculate loads on gussets will also be above your head.

Just decide how big it "should" be, double it, and add 10%. Edison's formula. Never fails.
