decent video editing software?

Hopefully this is the closest to the "correct subforum" for this question. Anyone have any suggestions for a basic/decent video editing software? I want to try and do some "arc shot" videos, nothing too fancy as I'm not going to do this full-time or anything, just want to perhaps record a few welding runs and post them up on YouTube, and add captions and basic stuff like that, perhaps some splicing. If the software is free, that would be great as well. I use Windows 10 64-bit, Home version, on an Asus G752VL. I already have a camera (that I'm still figuring out, but I'll get it eventually). Any suggestions are welcome.

you can download the GoPro software free, HERE is a link to the desktop version

Shotcut is a free open source software, I haven't used it so don't know anything about it.

Yea, I made a few videos, and I settled on Wondershare Filmora software. I found it to be the best fit for me.

Check out my youtube channel and subscribe. I am about to make a few more videos, since I work at a school, and all schools are closed until likely the next school year, so I have lots of time. :)

I recommend a Mac for video editing, so probably can't help you out. Video editing takes patience, there's an art to it. I wouldn't pain yourself in doing it on Windows. I surprised someone with so much HTP equipment would buy a Windows machine...

I know, tell me about it! I hate trying to edit, it's just not my forte, as you can see from my current videos, lol. I don't like Mac's. Window for me!

Oscar, your voice does NOT match your avatar. :-)

Can you do anything to get rid of the camera shake?

I use Shotcut for my YT videos. It took watching a few tutorials to get the hang of it.

I’ve edited probably a half dozen videos for my channel with it. Given that it’s free, it’s my go to software.

LOl, I wish I had General Zod's voice! that would be awesome!

I think I was holding the camera in my hand, sorry about that. I'm not about to go into full-time production of welding videos, so I'm not gonna blow a wad of cash on stuff that is too fancy, but if you have recommendations I would listen.

I was going to mention that also, but didn't as it seems you did use a tripod for at least some of it.

I didn't want to be too critical.

Better if I leave that to Louie...now I don't look like the bad guy!
