Hi all, I'm in the UK Midlands. I have a cheapy stick welder from Aldi. I have had it 8 years and used it about three times! I'm about to start seriously practicing to get away from the chicken shit I usually get

Hello,

Doesn't matter how cheap the machine is. As long as the output is constant it will produce an acceptable weld. We all start with chicken shit, (some end with chicken shit and give up), perseverance and the desire to succeed are what will improve your welding. Stick at it. Excuse the pun.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been in the garage today. I got an Auto Helmet off the internet. I never used one before. what a revelation! No more guessing at where I'm putting the rod! It's simple things like that that helps. I have 2.5kg of 2.5mm rods to practice with. I'll have loads of questions I am sure
