Hello all, Chris here all the way from sunny england :D , ive seen the videos on youtube and was impressed to i decided to come and have a look on the forum,

im 22 years old, im a fully qualified maintenance fitter and im qualified at arc, tig and mig welding,

i currently work for a company called esse, we specialise in making top of the range wood, gas and electric cookers and wood and gas fired stoves, im a supervisor in the sheet metal department, we have an old farley rapier plasma cutter for a few fixed shape jobs, the gears and motors are a bit tired so curves dont come out right well, a shape delta punch, a bystronic bystar 3015 3kw laser cutter, 2 edwards pearson 100 ton 3meter press brakes, and a 16 ton 1 meter press brake, we have 8 manual welders and the latest investment which is a fanuc robotic welder which im currently programming, jig making and running myself after 2 days training from cyber weld, ive got it to do some rather impressive welds now ive got used to the settings and weave speeds and patterns, ill upload some pictures if i can to see what you guys think, maybe give me some tips if any of you are experienced with them,

I must have had a beer or two... This "welcome" responds to two topics at once... It was RonaldP (?) who got started at the age of four.

"Welcome, Chris!

You seem quite accomplished for 22, but, if you started at four...

There's a lot of broad interest here, and I'd like to see the pics you plan to post!"

Hey,

Welcome to the forum. I hope your robot is working well. We have 2 robot on robots. The struggle with unforgiving wire and inconsistant fit up. The robot on robot means one on top of the other, like sitting on someones shoulders. The bottom one makes most of the complex movements and the top one is the welding one. I am resposible for fixing their mess, which really does wear thin. Fanuc robots are good i think, i beleive Lincoln Electric uses them in their drop in plug and play robot cells.

Welcome the the funny farm Chris. Great bunch of people around here always ready to help any way they can.

3 kw laser huh? No wonder the tired on plasma cutter gets a little jumpy, it's worried about being put out to pasture. :D
Go break something, then you can weld it back the right way.

if someone would like to give me some information on how to upload pictures that would be much appreciated,

i started welding at the age of 17 when i was doing my maintenance apprentiship, you could say i pick things up quite easily and without needing much teaching ;) , i prefer to teach myself because i think its better doing things the way you want to do them rather than how someone else wants you to do it if that makes any sence,

we only have the one robot at the moment but maybe looking into another in the near future, ours is a fanuc system rj2 with a m-6i 6 axis robot arm, it is running a kemppi pro 3000 pro mig 520r along side a kemppi pro cool unit and a kemppi pro 120r wire feeder on the robot arm, this is all connected to a abicor binzel robo 500 ts water cooled welding torch, which is connected to a snapper arm so that the torch doesnt get bent in an impact  we also have a torch streightening kit inside just incase it does get bent  and then my favourite bit is the automated shroud cleaner, anti spatter shroud spray and the wire trimmer :P we were told that if we use good quality products on the machine i.e tips shrouds and wire it will be a trouble free machine which so far it has been, we use an 250kg ESAB marathon pak 1mm wire, i can run it all week without a problem and just open the door and give it a wipe down and a sweep out on a friday afternoon,

ive recently fabricated and installed an extraction hood over the welding area with a 4 speed twin turbine extractor, looks like a big turbo :D and also installed a strip light in there which makes teaching the machine a programme a doddle :)

Hey,

I hope your robot works better than ours.

To upload a photo, just click on the upload attachment tab at the bottom of the screen. The photos have to be very small (low quality) to fit here. Other than that, you can add a link to another place to share your photos such as flikr or photobucket. Also we have a facebook group, if you are on there, where you can put up what ever photos you like.
