I have a weld cert coming up in September.
It’s a open root 7018 3/32 root, fill & cap.
The test coupon is a 2” #200 wall beveled tube. I have started practicing this test and I am struggling on the root pass.
This test is very uncommon and I can not find any tips or tricks since this rod is not meant for this type of weld.
You’re allowed 4 tacks 1/4” in length.
If anyone has ever done a test like this and has any tips and would be willing to make a video on it it would be much appreciated.
