Welcome!

Classroom work, I take it?
What test(s) will it be subjected to? Visual only? Bend test? Cut and etch (macro)?
What purpose is the weld meant to serve or simulate?
Is it to be an open root? If so, can/will you back-gouge it? Or are you allowed a backing bar?
What position will you be welding in? You didn't say if this is a fillet or a groove...

Tons of variables determine your choice or choices.

The more information you can share, the better your answers will be.

Yeah classroom work, it will be subjected to a tensile test, aiming to get the highest UTS among my peers, I have been searching and also found that 7018 seems to be a good choice.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks a lot :D

7018 - 3/32 - 78 amps. Beveled plates. Then grind from the back till you get to good weld metal. When you do fill it all in from the back side.
I have more questions than answers
