Hello I'm having trouble with a root pass on 2" sch 40 black pipe. I'm using my MT200 ac/dc tig with with stick. I'm also using 3/32 inweld 6010 rods. I have roughly 1/8 bevel and 1/16 land with about 1/16 gap. I have ran the machine all the way down to 45 amps. It seems to run fine with stringers up hill. Not fun to start at this amps but it does. Also these rods seem to be really finicky when it comes to arc length. Does anybody have any suggestions. Also its in a 6g position.

Hi, Kevin- I'm not familiar with the MT200. I've heard/read that some inverters do not run 6010 rods well: some inverters have a specific 6010 jack to overcome this limitation. I wonder if this could be the problem?

The MT200 does not have a separate port. It does like a 7018. It's not bad with a 6011. I also tried today same process on 6 inch sch 40. 3/32 gap 3/32 land 35.5 bevel. I turned machine to roughly 70 still not fun to start but once started it ran pretty well except for the finicky arc length. I have read some inverter machines don't like the 6010 rods. I'm going to email CK Worldwide about it. Hopefully they will be able to tell me why or what needs to be done. Thanks for the reply
