So today i decited to once and for all figure out what my AHP160ST draws for power on 120V input.. i wanted to know this to know what kinda circut braker can handel its full power and to also know if the generator im looking at can handle its full power on 110V or more on 220V

this was all done from 120V house hold power not from a generator just to give me the best results as i know i can get away with short welds at 120A with out issue..

anyhow

75A output 15.9A input

85A output 17.7A input

90A output 19.07A input

95A output 20.5A input

100A output 21.7A input

105A output 22.9A input

110A output 24.09A input

115A output 25.2A input

120A output 30.08A max average being 27.5A input.. i think the 30.08 was due to serious long arcing on the cold steel the first run as it bounced around 26.8 to 27.5 in the rest of the videos i made of the amp meter.

anyhow bottom line is if a person had this thing on a 30A breaker they could get full 120V power with no issues at all.

and my choice of a 5500W generator with a 13HP engine to run this will run it and my MIG welder with out any issue's at evan at 30.08A @120V its only pulling 3609 watts.. going by the specs i should be able to get about 150A out of it with out going above its rated power on the generator much less the things surge power..

i had not expected it to pull this low of numbers i had figured it would be higher.. how ever nice to see they charted out higher numbers to keep someone from blowing a breaker non stop..

I would guess those numbers are also pretty close for the Miller 150 STL that I use a lot. I know if I'm sticking 7018 3/32 at 80 amps I start tripping 20 amp breakers on 120v. Tig is a little better but around 110 amps it will trip a 20 amp breaker as well. Not right away but after a few minutes of arc time.

i would think so i kinda think that the AHP160ST was built on updated IGBT inverter tech.. same reason Miller basicly replaced the 150 this last month with the 161 series.. and i honestly think its max of 90A is only due to 20A breakers in mind and AHP decided that they would just give it full output on MMA.. i think it was partly due to not having a limiter built in when it gose to MMA mode vs TIG.. perhaps more cost to program that in and they would rather of put money into the guts then stupid programming.. that is my opnion anyhow.. bottom line is IGBT is very efficient i only wish i had 240V power to further continue testing on this little bugger..
