I haven't fired up a stick yet, nor have i put one to the grinder, but i was wondering if there is a way to tell what a rod is by looks? It has a dark gray almost black flux, and the bare end is painted dark red. the packaging is a plastic bag, green and i'm sure used to be clear, and the only part you can read is safety info about fumes and rays. i will do some testing, but thought i might try the wealth of knowledge here too. thanks in advance.

Rods should be labeled on their exposed end indicating their spec. :?:

Some companies used to use a color dot system. I'll see if I can find a chart. I think one red dot is 6010.

The "almost black" flux and red color suggests 8010. Love those rods, if that's what you have.
