ive been looking into buying a portable light weight welder that runs of 115 vac 15 amp outlet. so far the best thing i can find is the thermal arc 161 stl, but every one i have talked to said that 115 welders are nothing but junk. im planing on using it for smaller weld jobs that only take 5 seconds to compleat but dont want to deal with 3 hours of set up, and carrying a 50 pound welder up 3 flights of stairs is a huge pain in the butt. so has anyone used this thermal arc 161 and is it even worth a damn running on 115?

I bought recently the thermal arc 131 s it 115/230 v 200 amp smart box very small and it runs like a champ it will give you enough to burn all day I love it...... I would suggest it to any one. I can hook it up to a 110 or 220 line and like I said it burns brother....! complaint electric bill is alot higher the meter spins fast enough to fly 150 feet. hope it helps
