Can I stick weld 4130? I need to weld some .090 4130 plate to some .090 4130 tube. Can it be done with a stick welder and if so what type of rod and settings?

sure it can be done,...but it might not be a good idea depending on what it is. 3/32" 7018 that is new out of the box, or out of a rod oven would be my choice. Watch your arc strikes. thats where cracks will start if its a stressed part.

With it being only .090 thick, you are going to need a tight fit to not blow holes.
i am guessing 80 amps on dcep would do.

good luck
