A friend has a rudder made of silicon bronze that some cavitation (the propeller pushes water away faster than it can full in, creating vacuum, which creates basically what I understand as steam bubble that eat away at the metal) erosion that he wants filled in.

What rod and what setup would I use to do this repair?

I fixed some pitting on a pump impeller with Blockade braze rod from Harris. That worked good. I've done some brass flanges with silver braze rod both 15% and 45%. I've used oxy acetylene or tig. Coldman just had a post about brazing brass.
I have more questions than answers

I have welded pieces of cast silicon bronze together with silicon bronze filler on DCEN. The stuff melts at relatively low temp and flow pretty good if you can get the base metal clean. If you use silicon bronze filler get a large dia as you will be adding filler material rapidly.

I learned how to weld at night, but not last night. (despite how my weld looks)
