98 Snake Eater,
Welcome to the Lincoln clan. Great purchase price, you saved $1K+.
Since you have a water cooled torch are you going to purchase a Lincoln Cool Arc 40?

Thanks, I've actually been a part of the Lincoln clan for as long as I can remember, but this is our first Lincoln Tig
So far, so good, however, we have to upgrade our 30amp breaker
We never had any problems running our Power Mig 255 at full power, but this one zaps the breaker after a few passes
As for the water cooler, only time will tell if I really need it....
98 Snake Eater,
Your online name wouldn't be referring to accelerating past a Dodge Viper would it?
Then a short run of #8 stranded to the receptacle.
The breaker is a slow-blow 50 AMP, I have not tripped it yet.
This receptacle provides power for a Miller Thunderbolt AC, Millermatic 251, and Lincoln PT 225.

First time I took my T/A to the track, i beat a pair of RT/10's and a modded Cobra.
The announcer said I was the "Snake Eater" over the P.A. and I've been stuck with the name ever since.

Have you run the 225 at full tilt yet?
98 SNAKE EATER,
Now...Now..., play nice with the snakes.
There are two ways to go:
1. Purchase a PTA-26 air cooled torch (200A @ 60%); still does not cover the complete range.
2. Purchase a PTW-20 water cooled torch (250A @ 100%), must purchase the Cool Arc 40 ($850) water cooler.
***So, which way do you think I should go?

My one and only torch is a PTA-17 (150A @ 60%), that came with the TIG Ready-Pack. I did run the current up to 200A for 10 to 20 seconds during a practice session, but that is about as far as I wanted to go. Using the 17 at >25% of it's allowed maximum will make the stranded wire brittle and will ultimately fail.Have you run the 225 at full tilt yet?
