Hi,

I couldn't find much info on this, so I wanted to ask:

Can 6061 Aluminium be brazed with Silicon Bronze using DC Tig?

Thanks,
Chris

Aluminum melts around 1200F, and silicon bronze melts around 1800F. So no, it won't work.

But you certainly can use Aluminum Bronze filler.

I'm curious why this would work? It has approximately the same melting point as silicon bronze.

Both sil.bronze and al.bronze are mostly copper.

I've not tried to use either of them to join aluminum, so I can't say difinitively that it doesn't work.
But it seems like it couldn't based on melting point.
