Hello all,

I work for a manufacturing company that creates pressure transducers and I am the lead tig welder. Recently our operations manager switched to using 303 stainless instead of the 316 or the 304 we currently were using. All of the welds we are doing are fusion with no filler. I am not able to get it to fuse without having tons of holes. Everything we do is very small micro welds at super low amps to make sure we aren’t hurting the internal sensors. Any help at all would be much appreciated!

You may already know, but 303 is generally considered un-weldable, it can be welded with 312 filler, I can't imagine you'll be able to fuse this and it not crack

"Free Machining Grades(303, 303Se): Production welding of these grades is not recommended because the sulfur or selenium and phosphorus cause severe porosity and hot short cracking."
