So hello everybody happy new year.I have tried to weld some aluminum propel and i have seen the the 5356 welding rod
makes cracks so i switched to 4043 and 4347 and seems ok, any ideas where do you use 5356 successfully ...

All AL filler is prone to crack because the base metal shrinks when it cools. You can add a little extra filler at the end, and “swirl” your arc as you taper the pedal to avoid these craters. That’s where it tends to crack

Thank you , I tried everything possible but in vain 5356 seems not flexible when it cools.Same settings when
i used 4043 or 4047 everything is fine . The only nice bit i noticed is that in the edges it is more easy to stay seems less flowing.I wonder what will be like in thick pieces.

Odd. You results with 4043 and 5356 are very difffernet than mine. Most report 5356 as less prone to cracking than 4043. Whatever works for you is all that matters. Thick aluminum is pretty tricky to weld and you might want to preheat the pieces before you weld. This helps avoid parts shrinking excessively as they cool.

What grade aluminum is your base metal ?

There's the possibility it is a non-weldable grade.

It is 5052 its hard for this job previously i used softer usual aluminium that bent under stress
Silicon that it is in 4043 end 4047 makes it better when it shrinks.Maybe there will be an application
for the 5356 i don't know yet .Maybe in thick blocks like cylinder heads might be suitable. For what i have seen in sheet metal application i can not apply it.
