Raise your amperage up, use 2% Lanthinated and try using 60 HZ instead of 120hz. Your arc may not be quite as constricted but you'll have more heat into the weld.

Well, you're right, it's not pretty and many won't even consider it a weld but hey, you are making progress and it's a heck of a lot better than it was. Good work, you're moving in the right direction now. Keep working at it and it will all come together.

I think switching to 2% ceriated(grey) or lanthanated(blue) is the first step in solving this problem. E3 is for the hardcore thoriated fanboys. The pictures look like you dipped it, but you wouldn't be posting if you dipped it right?
