I have seen a couple different large dia nozzles used in some of your videos. One was CNI #12 and you added a SS screen in the nozzle.
It wasn't clear but I assume you used a standard large dia gas lens plus the large nozzle and you added a SS screen in the nozzle. You also mentioned using Scotchbrite in the nozzle.

Was wondering what mesh you used for the screen. I'm thinking of cutting up the SS screen in this inexpensive cooking tool http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lodge-11-Roun ... escription.

I will admit that I don't understand how a simple screen makes the gas flow more laminar in the large nozzle but will give it a try.

Due to a problem (scar on my cornea) with one eye that affects my depth vision I need larger than normal stick-out so your suggestion to up the gas flow and use an extra large nozzle should help me to be able to weld.

I'm using an older Lincoln Square-Wave 175 which has a #9 torch and have discovered a large lens 45V64S 3/32 & 45V116s 1/16 collet bodies and a #12 Nozzle 53N87 are supposed to fit. I plan to testing the setup and trial adding the screen to see how much stick-out I can get.

Wish I could find some sheet Titanium to duplicate your test but will just have to do some trial and error testing.

Do you have a suggestion on gas flow when welding w/ 1/16 electrode in the 50 - 90 Amp level or with a 3/32 electrode in the 80 - 130 level?
