 TLAR....I'm gonna steal that from you ;)

Be my guest! I also estimate time on task by the WAG method, which is "Wild-Ass Guess". I always look like a hero, because I use Thomas Edison's rule... However long I think it will take, I double it, then add ten percent, and that's what I tell them.

Under-promise and over-deliver, and they'll beat down your door.

I use the Edison method as well! I just didn't know that's what it was called. :D

It's been a while since I posted anything substantial.

First time on 304 SS 1 1/2", 1" and 1/2" sch 40. Two passes. Argon purge at 10cfh. 3/32 2%Thoriated with #7 cup (wishing it was an 8).

Getting the hang of these exhaust flex sections! 3" 304, backpurge at 7cfh, welded at 90a w/ 1/16"308L. Pictures arranged chronologically from out of the bag to welded, for those of you who have never had the unfortunate pleasure of welding one! ImageImageImageImage

No, these guys are anti pulse lol. I welded 1/2-5/8" at a time, mainly because that outer shell is 0.020-0.030" thick in some places. Monster 16 nozzle at 40-45cfh. I don't remember if I included that bit.

Everyone, please remember... When you're looking at work that impresses you, work that makes you question your own, you are looking at goals. Objectives. The place you want to be with a few years' more experience.

NONE of these weldporn jockeys came out of the womb doing that, and every one has had their share of epic fails before they got consistent, and a few more before they were good.

NEVER put yourself down because your weld doesn't look like so-and-so's. If you're six months in, and he's been doing it 30 years, you can't expect to be on par.

And also realize..if you do the same thing every day you better damned well get or be good at it or you'll be down the road. It's the guys that have to wear all the hats that impress me 8-)

I love repurposing stuff. It means someone saw the potential in something that others would have trashed. Nice work Rick.

I welded something by mistake thinking it's aluminum casting but it worked.... what the hell?
It's too heavy and fairly magnetic. The aluminum stuck....what is it?
