Hey folks,
I was given a bottle of 95/5 argon-hydrogen pre-mix to use up, it was used in chamber welding, would there be any problem using it with tig welder out in atmosphere!

No hazard.

The LEL (Lower explosive limit) for H2 "in atmosphere" is 4%. Your mix is at 5% in inert gas, which will diffuse to under 1% before it's fully "in atmosphere", so you should not even notice effects outside the weld zone.

The H2 is a common additive for increasing heat in heavy SS welds, much like He in Al welds. The 5% seems high, and may be for a specialty.

Rediron881 knows more about these mixes than I do, so I hope he chimes in here.

Please post your results!
