Just curious if anybody knows of any video footage that focuses on the first 5 seconds of initiating a weld on either a lap joint or t-joint. Doesn't matter what size, type of material, electrode, polarity or filler rod. There are tons of examples out there that illustrate the proper technique once the weld is up and running but I'm looking for examples that show the first molten piece of filler rod being deposited.

Interesting topic!

I wish I had the capability to video (for example) a 1/4" to 3/8" 6061-T6 weld with 5356 wire. That first dab, and it's timing, are important to the overall strength and continuity of the weld.

Welcome to our little corner of the internet!

Many of Jodys videos show arc from initiation to finish, unless its an edited project video. Look for the ones that he made especially to teach a joint.
