Hi guys,
My Everlast 250 EX died a quick death today.
It's a 2011 model, Everlast water cooler, CKW torch, and the upgraded foot pedal.
It's been working fine, last week I built a coupon test bender from 1 1/2" SS
just like Jody did.
I fired it up today, tapped the pedal to check the gas flow.
It responded properly.
I turned around ready to weld and that was the last breath of life.
The panel is lit up, the fans work, I can change the welding amps, but no response from the pedal.
I changed pedals, no response.
I tried lift arc, then switched over to stick.
No sparks.
This is about my fourth 250 EX. Thats what it took to get one that wasn't damaged in shipping,
failed to function, or both. This was the latest model in February 2011.
Anyone have an idea?
I dread the thought of shipping back to SF.

Update: A couple emails and a couple phone calls got me a Return Authorization.
The warranty is still in question. Original purchase March 2010
I didn't get a welder that functioned or was not damaged in shipment till
this one, received in April 2012
If they honor the warranty I will have to pay shipping both ways. Fair enough.


Update: The good news is that my welder arrived at Everlast in SF.
The bad news is that the repair facility is now in Idaho.
MY MISTAKE!
I sent an email, asking for a progress report and Oleg called me immediately.
My welder is back on the bus, heading for ID.
I realize that I'm out of business for any AC TIG work.
I'm considering a back-up. ????

Obviously, I would say call them as a first step. I've never had any issues getting any help from them with any questions I had.

Hope they get you sorted quickly / painlessly

Make sure they see the photo of the Big Blue Machine in the back of the truck. Bit of competition never hurts, eh? ;)

Jack,
I would also let them know that you're a member here and people from all about the globe come here and read this forum where they're now on display to see if they step up to the plate. There was just a post the same day saying that Big Blue stepped up when they were not obligated to do so, so it's their move. Point out the Weldmonger sticker also sticks to red or blue machines just as well as green.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised by their actions if you contact Everlast USA (Oleg) directly on your problem.

actually if he purchased it in February 2011, wouldn't it still be under warranty?

Thanks for your concern guys.
They have me marked as a new guy here but I've been signed up to this Forum since 2009.
I have watched every Jody video from before that. He's my hero.
That is about the time I bought my Everlast 250 EX.
I went through about 4 machines over nearly two years to get this one.
A couple were damaged in shipping a couple malfunctioned.
Oleg even sent me a loner in 2011 till this one arrived.
I didn't have a welder that worked till then but it has been working fine till now.
I pulled the covers off it today looking for something burned up or broken.
It looks great inside. I keep it covered so it didn't even need much cleaning.
I understand that there are some contact points that can be adjusted, couldn't find anything like that.
Calling Everlast is my next step.
By the way, I run my LN-25 Dual Power with the 302 EFI Trailblazer under the cover.
I have a Lincoln 350 MP also. I'm red, green, and blue here.
I am really fortunate and grateful that I've been able to gather some good tools.

This too late but same symptom on my 250 EX(2013) on AC, worked DC and AC lift arc. Readjusted my points then worked fine. Fingers crossed. It was HF that was not working for arc start(stabilization).

Sign in to the Everlast forum. Most times there's someone from the company there and they can be very helpful.

I have a friend who is looking for an inexpensive TIG unit for home use ... this guy is an experienced welder who now wears a tie but would like to have a machine in the garage. Maybe so he can sleep better at night? I am thinking about this green machine; I am a blue snob myself ... but right now those fellow with the red machine have a nice TIG on sale.

One other thing!

Someone made a point about explaining to customer service from Everlast that they were posting on this forum! I think that is a GREAT IDEA! I need to remember that! Thank you for that suggestion!

Why can't this "Friend" get on the forum and take the time to ask the questions himself if he wants others to take the time to offer advice and suggestions. Many experienced welders like you claim your "friend"is would not be caught dead using a Chinese welder. Plus if he is white collar now I'm sure he can afford a nice new dynasty.

I don't think Boomer's friend is looking for advice. Boomer was just mentioning the red, blue, and green in conversation.

My machine would not weld in any position, tried all tig settings and stick, no sparks, And no gas flow
after I tested it that one time on start up. The fan and digital display was operating. Both legs of my
incoming power was good.
I pulled the cover to look for something burned up or damaged, it was clean as could be inside.
I was looking for the points, as I know that can be a trouble spot, but I didn't find them and would
like to know where they are located. I would sure appreciate some directions to the points and their
proper setting, if that's possible.
