Hey guys, I'm Gene. Let's make things short. My company
wants to qualify in the 6G position with Sch 60 pipe using Pulse mig.
Sounds odd I'm sure but they're trying to get a job out asap and
Least labor time. The machine I have at work is a Miller Invision 354.
I tried practing on a piece but blow through every time coming up the sides
I've tried weaving and the only thing that seems to work is going downhill.
Any tips or techniques anyone would like to share?

Correction Sch80, my perimeter are 250 Wire feed and 40 trim

Uphill can be tricky. When I've done mig open root uphill on plate I've run it at about 220-230 ipm. at 18.5V. using .035 hard wire and an 1/8th gap with a 3/32 land. Running just at the front of the pool, I bounce side to side inside of the gap being sure to get good fill in the keyhole but not fall behind. Staying pointed into dead center or a tiny bit below is really important to keep a good back bead going. (my back bead has never looked awesome on this)

Downhill is way easier. If allowed, like downhill root, uphill fill and cover, or what ever the codes, if any, allow- would probably be a lot more feasible.

Maybe a steamfitter or boiler maker with better experience could chime in with some best practices.

I'm running .045 er70s-6. Coming up the side wall is where I'm having trouble. Seems like with Pulse the only option I
Have is in the 2g position, or root pass with tig and fill with mig. Any suggestions?
