I see some MIG wire is advertised as copper free. Is there something to be gained by this? Ordering wire online looks like a crapshoot at best. Way to much shipping damage reported.

We have esab wire thats not coated. But its a higher end wire (E80s2-D2, or something) that may have some other elements in it to resist corrosion/aid the other things that the copper usually does. BTW ive got a roll of brass coated steel wire in the shed. I don't notice much difference.

If it's not all going to be used up in a week or two then go with the coated stuff.

unless its "stainless" you will only gain rust.. unless you use it fast.
