Seasons Greetings! It's about time to get the snow plow ready around here. It is a Kubota BX23, subcompact with 60"" hydraulic blade. The blade has two skid shoes which help reduce actual blade wear. They seem to wear out pretty fast and are about $190 to replace the two from Kubota. I am looking for a way to rebuild the skid plates with my Miller 211. The shaft is 1 inch solid steel pipe, welded to a disc approximately 6 inches in diameter and 3/8 inch thick. The disc is what wears thin and I want to layer weld beads somehow to rebuild them.
Does anyone have suggestions for how to do this? What type of wire? Make circular beads or just parallel weld lines? How many layers on top of one another?

Hi there,
There are a heap of different hard surfacing products out there. Try googling exactly what you want to do and go from there. Once you have found a suitable product, the supplier/ manufacturer should be able to help you with the application procedure.
