I have a Everlast 253 DPI and I want to weld 12 and 16 gage metal using pulse or double pulse can anyone tell me what I should set the amps at to pulse weld this thin metal .030 wire

the average amperage should still be what you would normally set it to, based on the joint configuration. 40-60A for 16ga depending (outside corner takes less amps than inside corner). 100-140A for 12ga.

This is exactly the kind of info I need - I'm thinking of getting into some pulse welding and doing some research on a reasonably affordable pulse MIG welder. I was looking at the Everlast 251si as a possibility (among others), it runs about $1400 new now, while the 253 is about 50% more. I'm always in favor of newer, more advanced tech if possible, but I think that the 253 is just out of my budget.

Brand new here, lots of research to do...
