Why can I weld like a champ uphill fcaw-g but not mig?

MIG does not have flux to cure as slag behind/below your puddle, and support your advance.

MIG-up requires finesse. And I hate doing it.

Lol, that's the name of the game. I welded a killer overhead pass with fcaw-g testing a new wire for P91 material and if you saw it you would think I knew what I was doing. Hint: this was the first time I welded with flux core in my life.

Bigworm40,
I think you need to explain that one a little better. I can weld GMAW-P better than FCAW but that is bacause I am more experienced in pulse. Could that be the case for yourself?

Plus many (not all) flux core wires have fast freeze characteristics. Solid wire does not.
