The name solar is a bit of a marketing scam. I install solar and I end up with lots of rail pieces. Soooo I like to try and use them for all kinds if things. They are like unistrut but they also have a groove on the side that is great for attaching things. You might notice that I stole some ideas from Jody's cart. It is a bit springy but not bad and I want to see how it holds up as is. I can always add a support in front of the gas cylinder.
So no I have not figured out how to weld with the sun yet!

Love it!
I was picturing a cart with a deployable solar array and eight L16s with some huge inverters.

If the welder was a 115 volt, and ya had a good 2500 watt inverter, 4 golf cart batteries and say 500 watts of solar, You could weld with it. Probably even keep up with small-moderate welding projects in the summer, including some grinder time.

I like it!
this is me installing panels at my house. I put up 20 290watt panels. as long as utility companies don't charge for "net metering" I will have to stick with the boring old system.
