What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

long post -- cliff notes -- bought jeep in box, welding it up.

I've always had a thing for jeeps and taking the path less traveled. Had my 1st jeep in '84, The more I got into 4x4's the more I would make a few mods to them .

then I had a TJ, then a YJ and then another CJ.

Stopped wheeling for a while three years ago for health reasons, then I got the bug again.. always liked the Goatbuilt Chassis kits and almost bought the Ibex one a while back, then he came out the with Jeep LJ kit and I was hooked. May last year I ordered one. I already had the subframe assembly so that saved me a dollar.

spent some time gathering up some parts and a new welder, helmet(s) and other shop stuff \ tools I needed before I got started.
I assembled the subframe assembly first .

Once I had the subframe assembly put together, I began working on the chassis jig and getting it laid out properly. My Son came for a visit and helped with that part. :) this is the same kid in the first pic, only taller lol

once the jig was set, I began adding the pieces. Important note here, Each piece of the chassis is numbered and marked, notched and or bent. Which is a huge help.

stopped a bit and joined this site and got a huge amount of help with my welding, for which I am forever thankful. Free beer and brisket for all... one day. Its been slow but I've been trying to do a little every day. Wife, Work, Chores etc keep me busy, something about too many irons in the fire.

Which brings us up to the current pics.

Awesome project.
you're having fun building it and you're gonna have fun playing with it when it's finished. How good is that!

Jeep in a box! I never knew there was such a thing, that's a very cool and ambitious project.

Please keep the post updated as the project progresses. It's really great to follow along.
Thanks for posting!

That looks like a really fun project. There's all kinds of kits out there for welding up jeep stuff so I should have figured there would be complete Jeep kits too. Lots of good times ahead!

Is this the same kit that Ian Johnson made on Fourwheeler on MotortrendTV? He did a 3 part series on the build of a kit jeep like that. It also might be on his youtube channel "Big Tire Garage".

yes it is. there are 5 shows chronicling the build. I reference those from time to time. Josh @ Goatbuilt has been a huge help as well.

I got a bit more done since our last visit.
My Buddy came over to lend a hand getting the subframe positioned correctly.
