Very nice! I was going to make my kids a aluminum bunk bed, but my wife found one dirt cheap. She has been complaining about not having a head board for our bed, maybe I can make one for her.

In my woodworking days I got a huge hollow tree, a Black Walnut that survived a hotel fire. These trees secrete resin making the color, & rot resistance. This tree secreted lots of it, (fire?), the wood is very dark, almost oily to touch. I modified a lathe to 7' 3", made a cannonball 4 poster bed. The crossboard in the headboard I wanted a simple one hump tombstone shape. My boss didn't like it, it was creepy! I suggested a classic colonial broken pediment with dentil molding and turned finial. Nope, too Lincoln bedroom, she could envision a body with its head blown apart. I left it with "Look at antique furniture books. Find something you like. Weeks later I went off to a school board meeting, on my return I discovered a 15 year old proudly showing a blank of black walnut roughed out for a gun stock, He had cut it from the center of my headboard. Oh well.

Looks an excellent job - when I started on the pictures I actually thought it was a truck bed ! - I'm not going to risk putting the first thing that popped into my head in print - but I'll chance saying that membership to weight watchers maybe cheaper than that tonnage of steel !

Before they were married my daughter in law had a cramped dorm room. To maximize space Seth built her a desk with bed above.It comes apart in three pieces, and weighs 100 LBS each. All for a 97 LB girl.

You could park your D6 on that bed, and it wouldn't even flex.

That's one solid bedframe!

I'd be interested in more pics of your chop saw stand. That pivoting fence looks pretty clever!
