Re: Amp pedal and ARC welding
No. Once you put it in stick mose it shits off the foot pedal connection. Id you really wanted to you could throw a stick electrode in the tig torch and shut the gas off and use the pedal (6061 has a video on YouTube). I've done it to try it but i wouldn't want to. Ok Nick, no need to use such lang...

Tig brazing some vise grips
Anybody ever braze the clamping point on a pair of vise grips to make a soft clamp or soft jaws. I plan on clamping some stainless that I don't want to scratch.

I think he may have lost a family member and has been at his parents house the last few days at least that's what I got out of it on Facebook.

Re: Managing distortion in steel
Clamps. Lots of clamps. If you have some bar clamps you can cut a 2x4 or other piece to fit in between and then clamp it with the bar clamp for that dimension. You can always heat it afterward with a torch if you've got it.

Re: Oxy fuel welding/brazing rods
For now my welding would be limited to small fab projects. Stuff like a guard for lawn mower or lawman mower repair possibly if necessary. So if I decided to do stronger work I should use R60? I used RG45 for years on farm type repairs- bush hog, fence panels, etc, before I got a tig welder. I've n...

Re: Oxy fuel welding/brazing rods
Not sure if brand matters, but I invested in those sealed containers to store them. The first batch I bought got all rusty because my shop isn't always heated. R45 is for low strength steel, R60 for structural steel or castings, so it depends what you're doing. For now my welding would be limited t...

Oxy fuel welding/brazing rods
As I plan on getting an oxy fuel set up, is there any brands or types of welding/brazing rod that are better than others? Is there enough of a difference between R45 and R60 to get the R60 or is R45 enough?

Re: Harbor Freight helmets
I'm looking at buying a new welding helmet with a larger viewing area. Mine is the smaller rectangle size. Is HF a good place to buy a safe auto darkening helmet? I just got a 25% coupon and would like to use it, if a helmet from HF won't lead to blindness. Do they work yes. Heck some people swear ...

IS your polarity correct? Most self shielded flux core wires require DCEN where as most solid wire requires DCEP.

Re: Port a torch kit
The torch kit on my truck gets carried into almost everywhere it goes. It’s not uncommon to have the whole setup tied to the ladder I’m working off of. Or if I’m really lucky it’s in a lift basket. I'll be doing solely shop work and won't be doing work on a ladder with it hopefully. I'm sure if I w...

Re: Torch set
You don't have any dealers in your area that will sell you tanks? We have one that will sell any tank you want. I paid $220.00 for my 175 size argon tank, and costs 42 bucks to exchange out for a full one. Just wondering... It is an option from my LWS but I don't know if I want to do that just yet ...

Torch set
So I have decided to rent tanks for my oxy acetylene tanks and was wondering what you guys would reccomend for torch sets. I'veonly used a Smith set on my uncles farm and an old Airco set at my high school so I can't speak for longevity, excessive use or used in extreme conditions. Most use will be ...

Re: Port a torch kit
Personal opinion, I find those tiny tanks to be a waste of time. Except for strictly portable work that requires a lot of carrying but not much flame time. No offense ment to anyone who likes and uses them. Went to my local LWS and will last likely be renting tanks soon. Significantly cheaper in th...

Most of the time I would use the welding tip it comes with (don't remember the number off hand)Poland308 wrote:You will use 2 acetylene tanks for each oxygen. Approximately, depending on how much your running the cutting head. How long they last also depends on how big of a tip your using.

Anyone ever use one if these. Mostly would be used for metal art so mostly would be used for bending and welding small pieces together.
