Re: Extension Support for Horizontal Band Saw
You're most welcome. You have the idea and maybe it is a good decision to have just one that accommodates the largest motor that you have. A VFD is well suited to manual machines that can take advantage of variable cut speeds. CNC equipment is a different requirement. Some of it is tolerant of a rot...

Re: Extension Support for Horizontal Band Saw
Yes, the VFD does that very well and would be the better solution for this. What is the HP spec. of the motor?
Take a look at this video to give you a basic idea of how the conversion works. Just the first one that I found with a quick search.

I suspect that you are right and I've figured out what the red insulator is. The description below reads that it will convert to fecal matter in the humid coastal regions. I have a piece of teflon on the way. "GPO-3 offers superior arc and track resistance. NEMA grade GPO-2 (red color) and GPO-...

Re: how should I weld these plates together
Any reason for not buying a billet to use instead? I was thinking the same thing. Where are you located Joe? One the local scrappers has a back corner with "the goodies" including a couple of pieces of round bar stock that would probably work for this. I just browsed a local suppliers web...

Re: Tig noob and Syncrowave 250 resto project
From the charred look on the edges of the holes it looks indeed like it was arcing on the studs/bolts to the back plate. I suspect if you get a plain sheet of 3/32 or 1/8" thick PTFE and cut that to size to fit as a secondary/sandwich layer between the red one and the steel backing plate it wi...

Re: Tig noob and Syncrowave 250 resto project
Just recently had more problems with the HF points after it was working just fine for months. Maybe humidity has something to do with it? I had a hunch that a bigger gap behind the insulator/phenolic material would be a potential solution. It was a dim, orange arc behind the red material to chassis ...

A "pipe stand" is what I see local fabricators using. They are generally made with an acme thread and nut. If the stand needs to accommodate a wide variety of height, there will be a tube inside of tube. The tubes are drilled at increments to accept a pin and the acme thread is used for fi...

Re: CK9 torch fitting issue
This doesn't look right. I have a 20 series and all of the mating surfaces are a fine finish as I recall. I have not seen anything that has a raw casting finish for CGA fittings from any well known manufacturer. Personally, I would send the pics to CK and please let us know how it works out if you g...

Re: What is in your torch collection and how are you using t
I have a size 9 flex head torch on a flex cable that is mostly set up with a Furick 14 cup on a gas lens, running a 2.4mm electrode. The torch has a paddle switch. I use this rig mostly for thin mild steel - the Furick cup gives me the ability to use more stick out but is also just great for visibil...

Re: value of used dynasty 350
Yeah, welding equipment goes for ridiculous prices around here. I was going down this same path and decided that I wanted a warranty for anything inverter based. They seem to fail in a very costly fashion. Another option that may work for you is to rent it if you just need one for the occasional job...

My tig gloves are at the top with the thin one for the filler rod. The thick tillmans are used for everything else.

What is in your torch collection and how are you using them?
Just a general question as I'm always amazed with how people use their tools. For my personal situation and to be specific, I'm looking into expanding my capabilities. I want to purchase what it takes to tig underneath and in vehicles with a syncrowave 250 dx. From reading the manual, it appears tha...

Re: Rebuilding your own regulators
I will post up the progress on these this week hopefully. ESAB tech support responded to my email about the corrupt repair tools file on the website and sent it to me. I've included a pic of the tooling for my particular regulators. The professional fixture looks like a piece of pipe that is notched...

Ok, thanks. These are fairly large regulators and the threads have a good grip. It looks like I will need to build a fixture to hold them.

Rebuilding your own regulators
Can anyone give any advice on this as far as the actual rebuild? I've googled and found elsewhere that the safety issues usually pop up and derail the thread. I found one youtube video of someone replacing a seat on a single stage while on the cylinder. I do know that rebuilding it on the cylinder i...

Re: Buying a longer/heaver mig gun
The potential to cook things makes sense. You should be ~300+amps at that point. The gun Lincoln ships is 200A 60% for mixed gas and 300/60 for co2. I looked at the gun I use for steel on the comparable 350P out of curiosity. It is rated for 400A 100% with co2. I agree with everyone on the wiper pad...

Re: Buying a longer/heaver mig gun
How do you have the machine set up while melting insulators? Wire type, wire size, amperage? Lincoln did support and sell the MK python with the MP350 at some point. There is high current, water cooled version of this gun. It reads as possibly supporting your situation if you can't go with a separat...

Re: Tig noob and Syncrowave 250 resto project
I had two types of cans and I did successfully weld up several of the thinner material up to 23 amps without blowing holes in them. This is a pic of the thicker bottle shaped type at up to 33 amps. The only thing I have to show for an empty cylinder of argon :|. Nice weld, was this done in a rotato...

I'm totally thrilled with how everything is going! This is by far more enjoyable than any welding process I've worked with. I welded up the two bags of cans together that I mentioned in an earlier post. Something that helped was adjusting the arc starting current to "1 (light/soft start)"....

More cooler circuit problems and the fixes: OEM pump repair parts and entire replacements are not available from Procon. You may be able to get a new assembly from Miller for $400 and it can't be rebuilt. I've purchased a rebuildable style Procon pump/motor for plan B. It is spec'd at 230v, 2.8A, 1...

Around here AirgASS will not exchange a competitor bottle no matter what. My NEW happy nice LWS will take anyone's bottle but you have to pay for a hydro even if it's still in hydro. There isn't really any advantage to owning a bottle other than you can always sell it and usually get all your money...

Re: Tig noob and Syncrowave 250 resto project
Sounds like you're in business, then! I use the 250DX at work all the time and do all the maintenance on them. I wanted to add, sometimes one MUST clean the HF points for one reason or another, and there's a pretty reliable way to do it. I'll remove them entirely, chuck them in the drill press , an...
