Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

I picked up 5lb of 3/32" Lincoln 6013 today. I'll crank the current up and see how they behave. Soon hopefully. Thanks guys.

Re: Primeweld TIG 225x Review/Discussion

Another satisfied Primeweld owner here. Close to a year and it's a great machine for the money. I also wanted the HTP but couldn't handle the cost. No regrets with my purchase. Only missing feature I would have liked is lift start, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I've done enough aluminum welding to k...

Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

I didn't realize I was so ignorant about 6013. I tried them starting out years ago and despised them. Here at home it's 7018 and 6011 for me. I'll be doing some more research on 6013 I guess. Thank you Sir. 6013 doesn't get as much love as it should. I love how easy it runs and the look of the fini...

Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

Jtap, it's about distance. Small guage wire isn't unusual on the input side of welders but the short runs offer minimal voltage drop. My generator really sagged both voltage and frequency when striking an arc and never tripped a 30 amp breaker.

Hope the new wiring helps.

Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

Oscar, I think the only 6013 I have are some 1/16", maybe, I bought trying to weld body panels. They are like sparklers. I'll pick up some 3/32" and give them another go. Are the Lincoln at Lowe's or Hobart that Tractor Supply carries worth bringing home? My LWS doesn't generally have much...

Burning Filler Rod, I'm kind of partial to Abrams tanks, been there done that, but I never made that connection. I'll eventually end up moving the button to a 20 series water cooled torch. I may trim the mount down then depending on fit then. I like having the option to easily move the button anywhe...

Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

jtap, what is your power situation like? I ran a copper wound Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC for several years in the barn with no power. For smaller projects or when the weather was bad I ran it off a 5500 watt generator. Other times I set up outside where I could plug into the house. 85-90A DC was pushi...

Re: Sticks to buy - specifically brand

My welder came with a Tweco a-732 Electrode Holder. What would be the reason to buy/have some 3/32" 6013 and 7014? Are they more gentle and can be run at a lower amperage with less penetration and less chance of blow-through? rutile electrodes will usually give a nicer looking bead. that can m...

Re: New Topic,, but maybe not...

Burning filler rod, any idea about the different style buttons? I've seen 2 versions and expected they were old and new. I just received mine last week so ours should be current generation. No complaints, just curious. I mounted my box in exact location you did, but with the jacks facing down. I mad...

Re: New Topic,, but maybe not...

I liked the foot pedal when seated, but as soon as graduated from running beads to trying projects, I realized I don't have the coordination or patience to deal with a foot pedal while standing, or laying under something. I quickly started using the torch switch and enjoyed the freedom. I missed the...

Re: Thoughts on Everlast Machines??

My only Everlast is a 210STL. Seems great so far, but it hasn't seen that much use. Bought it for the portability which is great. I've carried it on a motorcycle, and hauled it everywhere in my car. It welds nice and smooth, but does seem to be more finicky about settings when switching rods than bi...
