What's the common sizes used in these PVC storage tubes? Obviously I can buy what fits, just asking if a certain size works better. I need to get started on a storage rack.

Re: Decision time PrimeWeld or HTP Invertig 221
Full disclosure, I am a tad biased because I own several Miller products. No such disclosure is needed IMO; owning & liking a certain product doesn't make you biased unless you also happen to work for that company and their bottom line affected yours. Then you'd be biased. But other than that, ...

Re: Welding helmets with better vision
Aaron, like you I was always needing more light. I installed 4 LED tubes over my welding table, which is a help normally. Out of position welds left me in the dark again. I considered helmet mounted lighting. Started looking at these new breed welding helmets and decided to upgrade. I went with the ...

Re: Decision time PrimeWeld or HTP Invertig 221
I bought the Primeweld simply because it was the best budget machine that seemed to have good support. I've no regrets about buying it, but I started out wanting the HTP and I'd still buy one if the funds allowed.

Good for you Alan. I guess, because I know nothing of the other site. I was on a motorcycle site that had a system where a post could get likes, but I don't recall negative feedback there.

Re: #17 torch at 200+ amps?
My 17 torch starts having problems at 140A. I've had back cap overheat and loosen from the brass threaded section and not be able to remove the tungsten until it cooled. So definitely no on using a 17 touch at 200A plus. I've ran the same torch at 220A for 3 seconds the take a current measurement wi...

Re: 3 phase cable sizing
I don't have an answer, but I see why you are concerned with all the neutral current. It would seem like each circuit should be ran from the source transformer as single phase where hot and neutral would be the same size.
I can't be of any help but I'm interested in the solution you find. Good luck.

Nice looking machine. I'm not familiar with the brand but it appears to have plenty of waveform control. Are you getting argon soon? Stick and Tig are both a load of fun. My favorite is whichever I'm currently using. Don't let these guys turn you off from forum. They are generally helpful and knowle...

Re: 3PCS 6'' Inch Diamond Coated Flat Lap Wheels
It's hard to get too much information, so thanks for the info. I went to Tech South and watched the videos on the grinders. Impressive stuff. I would have to go with the adjustable versions but likely more than I'm willing to spend. I found replacement discs on one site, but no mention of grit. Must...

Alan, what about the other set the same seller has that has 240, 600 and 3000 grit? After switching to the 400 would you think higher or lower would be better? I don't even know the grit of my current wheel but it's too course. Grind marks are pretty obvious. I was going to go ahead order a set. I d...

Thanks for the update Alan. I'm still looking around for another grinder to dedicate to tungsten. Father's day is close. Maybe I'll go that route.
I can see having more than 1 grit available as being useful.

Thanks guys.

Re: Favorite Gloves?
For low current stuff, 120A and under, I use the cheap goat skin gloves from Harbor Freight. Great dexterity, but very little heat protection. That covers most of my tig work here at home. When the torch gets hot I'll throw on something heavier.

Re: Optrel Crystal 2.0
Shade 2 passes 29-43%
Shade 3 passes 8.5-18%
Shade 4 passes 3.16-8.5%
A clear lens is anything above 85%.
That means a 2 could give you 10x more light than a 4. Pretty good drop going from a 3 to a 2 as well.
I'm sure that shade 2 is nice not needing to lift the hood for much of anything.

Nice. Are the e684 and the HTP both listed as shade 4?
I have a chart saved somewhere that lists the attenuation range for each shade. They are rather wide if memory serves.

I have an app on my phone that has a lux meter. Not particularly accurate but seems repeatable. Could give an relative value at least. If such things interest you.

Re: Optrel Crystal 2.0
A comparison would be interesting if you could get the relative brightness the same. It would be nice if you could get a real world off state comparison. Do you have a lux meter?
I like a bright image. I rarely go above shade 9, even at 140A.
