Dialetic Grease it prevents the oxidization of electric part form happening. Works very well.

Would the current going through the bearing cause a problem with it maybe becoming magnetized? Why not clamp the ground to the vise grips and save that problem? More direct ground it always better right?

Will a brass plate help out with tig welding ss the same as copper? OR does it have to be copper to prevent the back of the welds crystallizing?

I don't think it would matter which way. The welds are just as strong either way. Its not like a wood connection where you want to maximize the area of connection.
