Re: Can my welder handle this?

Frame rails? Do any modern cars have true frame rails? All I've seen since the demise of the Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Marquis/Lincoln Town Car (AKA the Ford Panther platform) died off ten years ago is stamped sheet steel. Without factory weld nuts, bolt holes/slots or some such I would be scared ...

Re: old new guy

Good morning, Wayne. And welcome from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. Back in the 1970s I was stationed at Fort Lewis and have fond memories of the region although I suspect that "progress" has really changed the region from what my 45 year old memories recall....

Re: Lazy drivers

As a long time contractor I realized that accidents do happen as a normal part of business. But I took a really dim view of negligence or laziness. After all, these guys are getting paid by the hour so if it takes a little longer to crank up the jack or drive a little slower and more defensively the...

Hello Ray and welcome from the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, USA. As were on the flip side of the winter/summer thing I just winterized my camper and filled the plumbing with non-toxic RV antifreeze a few days ago. That won't keep me from loading a canoe or two on the truc...

Re: BBQ smoker build (DIY)

Hmmm....I know I posted some links to a smoker build thread but it must not have been this one. Sorry for the confusion. Smoking Meat Forums has well over 100K members worldwide and has a wealth of pit building info whether you want to build a classic brick showpiece with built in Santa Anna grill, ...

Re: BBQ smoker build (DIY)

I built 2 different smokers. I used feldon's bbq pit builder calculator. It will give size variations and necessary sizes for opening to transfer heat and what size chimney you need. My one smoker is a vertical type with fire box below the cooking chamber and the other is a side box fire box. I see...

Re: ESAB EMP 235ic or 285ic or ?????

Thanks for the input. Actually, the difference between the 235ic and the 285ic is more like $600 due to the rebate on the 235ic.... But I'm still leaning toward the 285ic or something like the Multimatic 255 although either will likely have to wait a bit. We're both just a week past getting over Cov...

Re: ESAB EMP 235ic or 285ic or ?????

Inner shield as a wire for your projects is a good choice. The 235 should be more than capable. Here’s another option in the price range: https://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/catalog/product_compare/index/ cj737, thanks for the reply but the link comes up as a black page headed "Compare"...

ESAB EMP 235ic or 285ic or ?????

Hello All It's been a good long while since I spent any time on the board. I'm a hobbyist and am getting ready to start a few wood burning smoker projects and the only welder I currently have is a low hours Lincoln Ranger 8. I expect to be doing a lot of welding 1/4" steel and much of that will...

Hey, Bernard

Sorry for the late reply but I haven't been on the site in a long time. The torches were sold locally pretty soon after that post. I should have noted that here.

Best regards,
