Re: Help on some steel roses

Yes. A gun cartridge case vibratory cleaner/polisher might work well. Mine uses corn cob. I've used it on brass and nickel plate for a good polish.

Woops, big retraction here. I just realised my response was not to the OP (I though I was being given the finger and got my hackles up).
Apologies to jdl66ss and everyone else.

Re: Tips for dealing with arc Blow

Being inexperienced doesnt exactly help being able to join in the conversations here. So.......questions it is. Would anyone be able to define or describe this arc blow? Or gas blow? I didn't say I was inexperienced. I said I didn't do a lot of stick welding. When I do, it is mostly pipe stands and...

Re: Tips for dealing with arc Blow

I don't do a lot of stick welding. I only ever get arc blow on larger square tubing say 4" and upwards.
Going the other way fixes it just about every time. On the odd occasion it doesn't I just cuss and keep going.

Re: Hi from Minnesota

Welcome onekey. For anything I always think formal training is best. For welding, you get grounding in safety, how to assemble all the cables and hoses correctly, how the machine works, electrode types and uses and correct welding methods before you develop bad positional habits. An introductory cou...

Re: What I welded today....

Looks really slick. A bit of advice if I may. Loose the spare wheel bolt. I had a freak accident long time ago. Slipped off the draw bars in the rain and came down on my back. Just missed the spare wheel bolt. If I had come down on it I would have lost a kidney. First chance I cut it off and off eve...

Re: What causes this

Looks like a shielding issue to me. Its happening at about the same time in the run so maybe something is heating up and loosening up allowing argon loss or air in. Just go through your whole argon line from cylinder to arc and you will find it.

Re: >>>>Court rules welder’s cancer

@Angus It was a County Court trial. The Magistrate (or Judge) would be judge and jury in this case. Jury trials happen in higher courts for big ticket items (here in Oz) like murders and serial grubs etc. Still a proper and valid court and trial and certainly may affect precedence everywhere includi...

I don't believe there is much galvanized pool fencing going up these days at all. Most of it is powdercoat aluminium or glass type panel from what I've seen.

I too bought one because I was impressed with the functionality. Larry was great to deal with. He sent it out to oz fast with a great deal. Re: Advice Welcome

By the way stick welding gives off heaps of fumes as well. But if you read the msds for them, say 6010, it basically says if overcome by fumes drag the bloke outside, slap 'im round abit and send 'im back in to work.

Wouldn't you rather work with this process?

Welcome to the forum.
You don't say what size coupon you are using for 6g practice. This certainly affects amps etc. Also if you weave with lay wire you will end up with a flat or below flush root pass.
Let us know all details and you will get more responses.
